I may not be born and raised here, but I looove Amsterdam. The city never has a dull moment. It’s
always alife and bustling with trams and buses driving you off your bike, tourists shopping, people screaming,
children laughing and yeah, people smoking.
I thought it might be nice to take you shopping in my city and give you just some tips on where to go.
First of all: the main shopping streets are the “Kalverstraat” and “Nieuwendijk”, where you can find a.o. River Island,
Only, Vila, New Yorker, H&M, H&M and more H&M’s. This is comparable to Oxfordstreet, London.
Then there’s the Dutch mini tiny little version of Fifth avenue, the P.C. Hooftstraat, which offers
Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior and other designer stores. The Bijenkorf shopping
centre (in the middle of The Dam) also has some designer store in stores.
The 9 little streets (in Dutch De Negen Straatjes) is like a cheaper version of Soho, New York, with cute boutiques
that sell exclusive brands and foreign products. I promise to “take you there” some day.
And then there are these vintage markets, concept stores and hidden boutiques, for the knower.
Me and my friend Mo went to some of these just to do some real life browsing, be inspired
and then brainstorm about it above some good old frites.
Photos may give you an impression.
So now, my secret shopping spots aren not so secret anymore. Hope you like it!
