CITYTRIP TIPS: ZÜRICH WITH EASYJET
It’s not even that far, but it had been on my list for a while: Switzerland! And I am so happy to finally have been able to go there, cause I can tell you… It’s definitely worth the while. People I’ve spoken to about my trip didn’t really seem to know a thing about Zürich and what to expect from a city like that. Well, let me fill you in on all the details!
It was easyJet who invited me to go on this lovely press trip and when I got the email I was instantly super enthusiastic. Like I said before, it had been on my list for a while and I loved to have a chance to work with easyJet as it’s one of the airlines I fly with frequently. I really feel like easyJet honors it’s name by being such an easy go-to airline that gives you just enough comfort for a great price. I mean, they already fly to Zürich from 21EUR p.p.! This happens three times a week and only takes 1,5 hour. I had only just got to know the rest of the bloggers and we were already on solid ground again. Love it!
In Zürich we started our trip with a stroll through the city. How picturesque! I could not stop filming and the others were making pictures as though their lives were about to change haha. Zürich was even cuter than I expected: colorful fairytale buildings, cobbled streets, friendly people, endless views over the water, exposing the high tops of the mountains. Basically a great photo backdrop in every corner! And their food, O.M.G. Delicious!
Did I become a foodie?
The first day we had lunch at Hiltl restaurant, a vegetarian restaurant, holding the Guinness world of records at being the oldest continuously open vegetarian restaurant. To be honest, I would’ve expected just vegetables and fruits. But wow, the buffet completely blew me away. There was so much choice and it tasted amazingly good. I have not seen a lot of other lunchrooms in Zürich, but this one is definitely worth a recommendation. Luckily, I had had this plate full of goodness cause afterwards we went to a cocktailworkshop at Baltho Küche & Bar, in the old town of Zürich. What I loved about the workshop is that we were very much informed on how everything works and how to make a good cocktail at home in stead of just drinking one cocktail after another. Also, it’s such a fun experience to have with a group of ladies. In my vlog you’ll see more of this!
We also had dinner here at Baltho, again, so delicious – Tavolata got a whole new meaning. Apparently this is some sort of tapas menu with lots of different dishes which you can all share together (or not share at all muhaha). Especially the apple cake in the end was an extra I wouldn’t have wanna miss *heart eyes*.
So much to explore
Another stroll through the city brought us back to our hotel, Hotel Wallenberg, a charming boutique hotel situated in the heart of the old town, where we had a good night of sleep so we would be fresh & fit for the next day on which we visited the Uetliberg. This mountain top gave us an incredible view over the city. Too bad that the weather wasn’t that good. I think that the view would’ve been even more impressing if it hadn’t been cloudy, but it’s absolutely a must-visit when in Zürich.
Afterwards we also visited the botanical gardens and the ‘Markthallen Im Viaduct’. This all made for a lovely day which we finished off with dinner at The Bite, a Swiss-Canadian burger restaurant. I ordered the threesome, three small burgers (classic, manchego, barbecue) and took the cocktail of the day, a pineapple surprise which was so delicious!
I think I sound like a foodie now, but really, the food in Zürich is just amazing. But it’s not just that that would have me recommend this to others. It’s also the fresh air, the beautiful views and the jovial vibe that I loved about this city. I think I will definitely be going back to Switzerland again. My curiosity (and hunger) are awakened. Maybe next time I will visit Geneva?
Hope these pictures give you an idea of my trip and where to go and stay when you visit Zürich. For a better idea check out my vlog here. Ever been to Zürich or planning to go? Let me know your thoughts!
