A SUMMER LOVE AFFAIR
Imagine me listening to Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor’s “Let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on” while editing this article and you can tell I’m totally in the mood for a romantic summer as we know them from golden oldie movies like Grease and Dirty Dancing. But who knows what summer holds for us? At least I can tell that I had a lovely summer so far…
When I received this fun retro bikini, I got kinda nervous, because I didn’t really know how to photograph it for my blog. At the beach, duh… But, what about styling? When I tried it on I came to the conclusion that it didn’t need much of styling. In the end, bikinis serve to go into the water so what else would you wanna wear in the water? Well, I can’t tell you. But I can tell you what to wear on the beach (since I never really go into the water): A straw hat to avoid a sunstroke and sunnies for an easy view. Who knew that functionality would be so fashionable on the beach?
Now, the bikini is a retro one, which I got at Top Vintage, a Dutch webshop where you can not only buy retro bikinis, but also vintage clothing and accessories. The fun part about this vintage shop is that it does not sell the usual second hand items, but instead offers a wide range of vintage inspired items that have a refined and authentic look and come in different sizes. Top Vintage is very popular and won prices for being the Best Webshop Womenswear and Best Fashion Webshop of 2015 during the Thuiswinkel Awards (translated Homeshopping Awards), and I must say I am a huge fan myself too!
As you may know from my blog I wear high waisted bottoms a lot and although it isn’t practical when it comes to tan lines and crop tops, I love high waisted bikini bottoms as well. They are comfortable and give you that instant feminine touch. The print I am wearing here is a typical red & white polkadot and just seeing it like this against a beachy summerish background brought up the title of this blogpost on the spur of the moment.
“From my eyes he could tell it was summer,
from my lips he could tell it wouldn’t be a bummer”
In line with summer love affairs, I shot this look with my boyfriend *ringing bells and alarms!* cause it’s only been official for a few weeks now. And I must say that I am verrry happy with the result. From friends and experience I know that most blogger boyfriends aren’t so keen on shooting outfits, but we had a lot of fun and if this is going to be the outcome of our photoshoots, I can only hope for more.
Let me know what you think!
